I recently read an interview with Mel Blanc where he addressed that question. He wasn't a fan of carrots, but not allergic. The rumor was perpetrated by the habit he had of spitting out the carrots he chomped on whilst recording the audio for the Bugs Bunny character. In fact, if he were allergic to carrots, he probably would nt have been able to chew the pieces without having an allergic reaction.
