Healthy Desserts: 6 alternatives to Candies

No dessert unless you finish your dinner!” Sounds familiar? Yes, we all  just love sweets!  It gives us this sudden feeling of satisfaction and happiness.

But we also know, that many sweets like candies, lollipops, cookies, creamy cakes are not very healthy, because they contain sugars, preservatives, fats, artificial sweeteners  and other harmful chemicals and almost no vitamins or other nutrients.

But should we reject sweets completely? Of course not! Just use  healthier products for desserts – they contain a lot of nutrients and vitamins.  Here is a list of 6 healthy alternatives to candies:

1. Berries

Berries are great source of vitamins, they are tasty and often don’t even need preparation.

( Take a look at our Top 10 Healthiest Berries )

2. Fruits

The same goes with fruits which also contain many vitamins and phytochemicals that help to enhance our immune system besides strengthening our body.

Berries and fruits can be eaten without any preparation, in that way they are the most nutritive and healthy.  But you can blend them and have a great dessert or you can just cut various fruits into pieces and pour yoghurt over them..

3. Ricotta

Ricotta is produced from whey, the liquid separated out from the curds when cheese is made. In common with all cheeses, ricotta is a good source of calcium, and it contains vitamins A and D.

You can make many desserts using ricotta cheese. It can be used to make pancakes, pies or just blend it until it is creamy.. Then, just use your imagination, put fruits, jam, chocolate or whatever you want into it.

4. Yoghurt

Yoghurt is a dairy product produced by bacterial fermentation of milk. It is nutritionally rich in protein, calcium, riboflavin, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12. (You should choose the most natural one you can find)

Put your favorite berries or fruits into yoghurt and you’ll have the healthiest dessert ever!

5. Honey

Honey, a most assimilable carbohydrate compound, is a singularly acceptable, practical and most effective aliment to generate heat, create and replace energy, and furthermore, to form certain tissues. Honey, besides, supplies the organism with substances for the formation of enzymes and other biological ferments to promote oxidation. It has distinct germicidal properties and in this respect greatly differs from milk which is an exceptionally good breeding-ground for bacteria. Honey is a most valuable food, which today is not sufficiently appreciated. Its frequent if not daily use is vitally important.

Just use it instead of sugar to sweeten your tea or put it into desserts where you usually use sugar!

6. Chocolate

Yes, you can eat it sometimes without any scruples. Just remember – sometimes! and it should be good quality dark chocolate.. (Read about chocolate here: 5 Best Foods For a Better Mood)
